UNHCR Women's Training Project
From Yangon, Myanmar -
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has funded a sewing course for helping the many women and girls in the local villages. The advanced sewing courses also incorporates health, nutrition, bookkeeping and sewing machine maintenance in the sewing classes. Since the classes have accepted women across many religions and ethnic groups, the sewing course gives them a chance to learn about each other's culture as well, and to make new friends in the remote region.
Good story: Read more from the UNHCR website about the women's training program in northern Myanmar.
