New Westminster: Homemade Gift Bags Great Community Project
When it was to be announced that gift wrapping presents for the students and families of an inner city elementary school would be too expensive (one estimate would be around 2,000 bags for individual presents would be needed), History teacher Liz Horne and Home Economics teacher Karin Harbick thought homemade gift bags would fit the bill.
The students in Harick's class will help make the bags, and the intention is that all the bags will be created with donated fabrics by Christmas time, and with most of them being returned after the holidays, will turn into multi-year, and multi-present, gift bags for the community project.
Great story. For information on donating time, effort, fabrics, and if you're in the area to do real help, read the source of this gift wrapping story from the New Westminster News.
