The Natural World: Profiles of Major Artists, Galleries of Inspiring Works

For those that need inspiration, there are many photographic galleries running throughout the book from various artists: Flowers I Gallery, Birds Gallery; Water Gallery; Animals Gallery; Leaves Gallery; Insects Gallery; Flowers II Gallery; Trees Gallery; and Textures Gallery. If you want a look at the what types of quilts the galleries include, both of the Flowers galleries can be read and downloaded from the publisher. The section "Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird" (inspired by the poem of the same name by Wallace Stevens) was a fun look at different blackbird art quilts from the members of the Fiber Artists Coalition.
Throughout the profiles, you'll glean the artists' steps in the art quilt process, such as what their influences were and are, how they use fiber as an art medium, and what their preferred color choices are. A really great book, especially for those who are looking at some insight into an artist's design process.
